Andrew R. Berliner

Andy Berliner is the co-founder and President of Amy’s Kitchen. He was raised in Chicago and graduated from Purdue University.

At the age of 22 Andy ventured to Australia to work for, and eventually become president of, a small cosmetics firm, which he helped build into a multi million-dollar business.

Returning to the U.S. in 1974, he invested in a Northern California startup company called “Magic Mountain Herb Teas.” He came on board as Vice President and within a few years was promoted to President. Within 4 years annual sales jumped from $35,000 to $12,000,000 and the company was profitably sold.

Andy and his wife, Rachel, started Amy’s Kitchen - www.amyskitchen.com - in 1988, shortly after the birth of their daughter for whom the company is named. Amy’s Kitchen manufactures over 110 high quality organic/vegetarian food products (frozen and shelf-stable) under the Amy’s brand name.

The uniqueness and power of the brand is related to the extraordinary taste profile as well as its healthy ingredients. The company is responsible for over $100 million in sales to natural food stores and conventional supermarkets throughout the United States, Canada and the UK.

Amy’s Kitchen employs over 700 people at its Santa Rosa plant and occupies 175,000 sq. ft. The company has grown at a rate of 15-30% annually since its inception and continues to grow at that rate.
